Whenever you’re planning your social media content, you should always be mindful of WHAT you’re posting so that you can guarantee that you’re creating content that people actually want to read. To make sure that your social media content is top-of-the-line, ask yourself these five questions.
Who is your target audience?
This is probably the most important question to ask yourself and know the answer to. If you’re unsure of your target audience, the content you’re sharing will become irrelevant because it won’t be tailored to who will benefit from it the most. Think about who your target audience is and remember it – you’ll end up using it to pull the content that you’ll write for your social media.
Which posts have been well-performing for you?
Take a look at your analytics, notice which posts performed the best, and figure out why they performed so well. It could be the strategy behind the post or it could be the actual content itself – whatever it is, try to imitate it with your new content. You can share the same article but change the wording, or you can use the same techniques. For example, my quote images always do really well on social media, so I imitate the strategy of sharing quotes on my social media each week.
What are you promoting?
You need to be aware of what you’re promoting in order to craft the best content for it. If you’re promoting a blog post, you should make sure that the content answers a question that people have. If you’re promoting a product/service, you should make sure that the content shows the benefits of the product/service.
What are your goals?
Know your goals with your content so that you can use the best strategies for that content. If your goal is to build awareness of your brand, then your content will focus on building relationships instead of getting sales. If your goal is to get engagement on a blog post, then your content will encourage people to read the post. And if your goal is to sell something, then your content will show the value of that product or service.
Can the content be placed into evergreen content?
As I’ve mentioned before, you can save time with creating your social media content by repurposing content. The main goal of repurposing content is resharing content that has previously performed well in order to perform well once again and boost your brand’s engagement. You want to make sure that the content you will be placing into an evergreen queue isn’t time-sensitive.
