How You Know When to Outsource in Your Business

As entrepreneurs, we like to feel like we’re Superwoman – like we can accomplish anything and everything under the sun. But unfortunately, no matter how hard we try, we just can’t seem to do it all; maybe it’s not in our expertise or maybe we just don’t have the time. If you feel any of these ways below, this is when you should start outsourcing in your business.

You don’t have the time for it.
If you find that there are things that you would really like to get done, but you just don’t have the time for it, outsource it. I know first-hand that there simply aren’t enough hours in the day, and you’ll end up burning out if you try to accomplish everything that needs to get done; it just isn’t possible sometimes. An example for this is marketing; entrepreneurs know that marketing is necessary for the success of their business, so they hire someone to do it so they don’t have to worry about it. Handing off tasks that you just don’t have the time to do to someone else will leave you feeling stress-free.

You don’t know how to do it.
I am far from being a graphic designer. I don’t know how to design my own website, I don’t have the time to learn how to do it, and I just don’t want to do it! It also wouldn’t be worth spending hours and hours (especially because I’m a perfectionist!) learning how to design my website and then actually designing it because I could be using those hours to make money instead. I’ll let you in on a secret: I’m working with a web designer to create a new look for Dash of Social®, and I instantly hired the designer to do this for me because I realized I needed someone else to do it.

It’s taking away from getting your most important tasks done.
Administrative tasks – such as emailing, invoicing, researching, etc. – are important business tasks that need to get done, but they end up taking away from doing your real business. Yes, you need to respond to clients’ emails, send invoices to your clients, and research ways to make your product better – but doing all of that ends up taking away from completing your actual product! If you find yourself having to do things that take you away from making money, outsource them!

Outsourcing may be hard at first because you want to save your money, but you need to invest in your business to help it grow. What are some things you have outsourced before or would like to outsource?
